30 May 2006: Lean Leadership Congress

This is the inaugural Congress of the Kaizen Institute of Australia. It will be held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on 30 May, 8.30am-5pm. The congress focus will be on achieving world class levels of performance through effective leadership and the adoption of Lean. Masaaki Imai -  "the father of kaizen" and author of Gemba Kaizen - will be present. Details of the Congress.

May-June 2006: Western Sydney Manufacturing Week and breakfast seminar

Western Sydney is having a Manufacturing Week from 29 May to 2 June this year. It will include a manufacturing leaders' form, and a site visits program. Details (PDF file, 1 page). On 2 June there will be a breakfast seminar with Masaaki Imai

February 2006: Hans-Henrik Hvolby

Our first Smartlink Fellow for 2006 was Hans Hvolby, from Aalborg University in  Denmark, who returned to Australia for an extended visit. Professor Hvolby was brought to Australia, with the support of the SA Department of Trade and Economic Development, in February and March 2006. His research interests are lean order management, supply chain integration, production planning and control, and information technology and supply chain management. Here's his current CV (PDF, 15 pages). And here are two new presentations by him: one on supply chain integration, and one on lean order management.

December 5-16, 2005: Roger Maull

Dr Roger Maull is from the Department of Management, University of Exeter, UK. (Another return visit by request.) Further details on his defence interests.
