Smartlink Seminar Topics
Allan’s work brings together technology and management. As manufacturing becomes a truly global affair, the basis of competition will switch from individual companies and their supply chains to regional clusters – networks of interrelated businesses and other organisations. Using practical examples Allan will discuss the nature of clusters, and the impact on managers of this shift in the basis of competition.
He is happy to cover topics such as:

The role of public economic development agencies in cluster promotion;

The structure of cluster organizations;

The funding of cluster organizations;

The management of cluster organizations;

The differences between clusters and industry associations and employers organizations;

These topics could be handled either as talks or as workshop/facilitation sessions. For example, workshop sessions might be best for trying to get small firms to see how they might benefit from clusters.
