Personal InformationDean, Faculty of Commerce, National University of Ireland Galway, Ireland Visiting Smartlink Fellow: 7-17 April 2003 BackgroundProfessor Green took up his position at NUI, Galway in February 2000 after ten years at the University of Newcastle, Australia, where he was Director of the Employment Studies Centre. Previously, he was a Fellow of Clare Hall, Cambridge, and an adviser to the British Labour Party and Australian Government. He has served on public bodies and commissions, including the Australian Centre for Best Practice, NSW Manufacturing Industries Advisory Council, ACOSS Future of Work Commission, Trade Union Education Foundation and, most recently, the Expert Group for National Innovation Summit held by the Business Council of Australia and Federal Department of Industry, Science and Resources. More recently he has contributed to the OECD National Innovation Systems Programmes and a steering group for the Atlantic Corridor. Roy has published widely in the areas of industry, regional development policy and labour market analysis and is currently involved in a study of the ICT sector in Ireland and a 6-county project on structural reform and the knowledge-based economy in Europe.
